Route planning for Continuous Aerial Surveillance by UAVs

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are already widely used for aerial photography for military and civilian applications. The project “Collaborative microdrones” develops a framework for a fleet of quadrotors to assist rescue teams in the industrial and natural disaster scenarios. The drones fly over the target area, transmit pictures to the ground station and present a real-time overview image of the area. This talk is focused on the route planning part of the project. The main issue is to combine AI methods with real-life environment, i.e., constraints imposed by the design of the UAVs and the application.
