The goal of the EVOK ("Echtzeit Vor-Ort-Aufklärung und Einsatzmonitoring") project is to design a real-time operational monitoring system.

Echtzeit Vor-Ort-AufKlärung und Einsatzmonitoring

Project Description

When deploying special forces in hostage situations and similar situations, it is absolutely necessary to act quickly and professionally. This is made more difficult, especially in buildings, by the fact that criminals are often familiar with the spatial surroundings. Therefore, it is of crucial importance that the situation is clarified and presented as accurately and comprehensively as possible.

In EVOK, a system for real-time situation display is being developed that allows the creation of a 3D model of the environment during an ongoing operation. In addition, the current positions of the emergency forces can be displayed in this model. This is to be visualised in a way that is specifically tailored to each user group.

The system developed in EVOK represents a technical innovation that is directly oriented towards practical needs. The requirements of real operations flow into the development during the entire project. The visualisation of the location and position of the emergency forces can help to minimise hazards and organise operations efficiently. This significantly increases the safety of the emergency services and the people affected.

In 2020, the project received Saxony-Anhalt's most highly endowed research and innovation prize, the Hugo-Junkers-Prize, in the category "Most Innovative Projects from the Field of Applied Interactive Technologies". The prize was awarded to innovative projects that use their findings and initiatives to realise new approaches, create new markets or change existing ones. EVOK was able to assert itself against a total of almost 100 competitors.

The Hugo Junkers Prize has been awarded by the Ministry of Economics, Science and Digitalisation for almost 30 years. Among other things, it is intended to honour and support the achievements and work of innovative researchers.
